Orange County Roof Leak Repair The Exact Fall Arrest Anchors Must Save Lives

Most people have no idea what equipment keeps the window washers and construction workers from plunging to their death when doing their job. Fall arrest anchors are small devices that play a major role in keeping workers alive. There are many different kinds of roof anchors to be used in conjunction with the specific material it was designed to penetrate. Some anchors are temporary and others are permanent.
The main materials used in the construction of a roof are steel sheets, concrete tile and slate. If it is not possible to attach the roof anchors into the roof the place where it will be attached might be the frame of a skylight or a wooden truss. Freestanding anchors will not require penetration into a material. Permanent anchors will require being attached to a strong, reinforced spot in or near the roof where the anchor can penetrate the material.
Many more buildings are incorporating greater glass areas. This will require more window washing so builders are embedding anchors into the buildings while they are under construction. The system is permanent and will be stronger than if it were added at a later date. The fall arrest anchor is an important component of the fall arrest system that make the use of suspension lines.
The more architects and building companies work together the better the fall arrest anchor system will meet the recommended safety guidelines. Safety needs to be a constant concern especially with an increase in the number of window washers expected to be working in such dangerous conditions. Adding systems at a later date is not cost effective and possibly not as safe.
Window cleaners have a choice of four methods to suspend themselves when window cleaning. The cheapest is the belt and anchor system where the cleaner can climb through an open window and connect and run a belt through a nearby anchor. The window washing equipment also makes use of a platform system that permits two window washers to work together. A rope is attached at each end of the platform that passes through the anchor bolts.
It is cheaper to have the anchors embedded in the building than to have the window washers bring their portable anchor equipment which they will charge extra for. Due to an unfortunate accident in 1998 a young window washer fell to his death in Washington State. As a result the International Window Cleaning Association and the Building Owners and Managers Association worked together to develop safety guidelines.
Building owners and contractors are advised to follow these standards to reduce the chances of future accidents taking place. There is a system of checks and balances set up where inspections and window cleaning project plans are prepared ahead of time. The guidelines cannot be enforced legally but are highly recommended.
Fall arrest anchor are extremely important in assuring a safe work environment for high altitude window washers. Other workers too can benefit form using an existing secure anchoring system. Building owners must keep safety as a top priority when incorporating an anchor system into their building. Experts should be called in to help recommend the best system for the existing conditions.
